Designing the single cover for Clint Black’s This Old House was an opportunity to create something that felt both timeless and deeply rooted in country music tradition while still standing out in today’s market. I wanted the design to feel natural and authentic, with every element thoughtfully placed to honor the song’s heritage while maintaining its visual impact. Drawing inspiration from vintage Opry posters, hand-painted signage, and ornate western motifs, I incorporated details that reflect the rich history of Nashville’s country music scene.
More than just a tribute, this song is a celebration of the Grand Ole Opry’s legacy, bringing together an incredible lineup of artists who have all been shaped by its legendary stage. Clint Black is joined by Travis Tritt, Cody Jinks, Sara Evans, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Michael Ray, Darius Rucker, and Steve Wariner, each lending their voice to honor one of country music’s most storied institutions.
To complement the song’s depth and tradition, I kept the typography simple yet intentional, balancing it with ornate flourishes, a rich deep blue and black color palette, and a structured circular layout. The result is a bold yet elegant design that pays homage to the past while feeling relevant today. Beyond the aesthetics, this project was especially meaningful because a portion of the proceeds benefited the Opry Trust Fund, supporting country artists in need. It was an honor to create artwork that not only represents the Opry’s legacy but also contributes to the community that keeps its spirit alive.
