This watercolor piece was inspired by Little Big Town’s Day Drinking performance at the CMT Music Awards. During the performance, their crisp white outfits transformed into vibrant canvases as clouds of colorful paint powder erupted around them, creating a stunning visual moment. I wanted to capture that excitement in my artwork, so I used a mix of black ink wash to build depth and structure, while allowing soft pastel blues, purples, and pinks to flow freely across the composition.
By blending realism with artistic abstraction, I aimed to highlight both the band’s individuality and the fluid motion of the scene. The controlled ink work defines their features, while the watercolor splashes convey movement and spontaneity, reflecting the dynamic energy of their performance. The result is a perfect balance of precision and free expression, mirroring the fun, creativity, and unforgettable energy of that Day Drinking moment.
